Open-Source Design

WHAT The 21st century is signified by the introduction of Industry 4.0, or the Fourth Industrial Revolution (McKinsey, 2022).
HOW It is powered by the emergence of digital fabrication methods such as CNC-milling, laser-cutting and 3D-printing.
WHO People worldwide can download designs from anywhere and manufacture them in so-called maker spaces.
WHY Industry 4.0 signifies a shift in decision-making power from central authorities to individuals. Open-source design ensures equal access to quality design for everyone.
